The Yoruba ethnic group is one of the largest in Nigerian, it is also one of the most popular ethnic group in Nigerian, the Yoruba ethnic group is located in Western Africa, especially Nigeria, Benin Republic and some part of Ghana.
The Yoruba tribes makes up of 15.5% of the population in Nigerian and it constitutes of about 47 Million people in the world, this make them one of the largest ethnic group in Africa.
In Yoruba language, Oba mean King or Ruler, so all the Oba of the Yoruba ethnic groups are highly respected, and the Yoruba people believes that Oba are chosen by God.
Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adalabu Adefunmi was born the 5th of October in the year 1928 in Detroit, Michigan in the United States Of America. He was called Walter Eugene King before he became an Oba in Yoruba land.
He grew up with an interest in African culture and began African studies at the age of 16. In the year 1954, at the age of 20, he traveled to Haiti to study the Haitian culture and Haitian Vodou and, in the year 1955, he travelled to Europe and North Africa. After that he went to Cuba and from Cuba he proceeded to Ile-ife where he was crowned as king.

late Efuntola Oseijeman Adalabu Adefunmi was crowned Oba in Yoruba land in the year 1981 due to his good deed towards the Yoruba people, his name was changed from Walter Eugene to Oba Efuntola Oseijeman Adelabu Adefunmi of Yoruba land, he become the first Oyibo man to be crowned as an Oba in Yoruba land.

Oba Efuntola Adefunmi passed away on February 11 in the year 2005.
