Today is the 25th of November 2020, and this is a special day for all women and girls, particularly the feminine gender around the world. It is a special day set aside to celebrate and at the same time fight for the freedom of all women and girls around the world.

It is no news that at least, 1 out of 3 girls are being assaulted either physically, emotionally, and even violently. The incessant occurrence of violence against women and girls is becoming so alarming. Almost every day, we do hear breaking news, of women and girls that were assaulted in one way or the other.

This violence against women and girls includes; Rape, Brutality, Genital Mutilation, and other forms of unsafe and cruel acts done to the feminine gender.

Due to this incessant and unending violence against women and girls around the world, the United Nations has set aside a special date to serve as a reminder for violence against women and girls. They made every 25th of November, a special day for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

The United Nations declared that every 25th of November would be an ' International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against All Women'. This declaration is backed up by the United Nations constitution, to restore the freedom and dignity of all women and children, by eliminating every form of violence against them.

This year's edition was indeed a special one, as the United Nations-backed it up with 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.

While relating to the ' International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women ', The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari took to his official Twitter account, to expatiate more on the aim of this international day, and to reveal his plans for all women in Nigeria.

Paraphrasing his words, and summarizing his tweets, President Buhari acknowledged the international day, and he also revealed his plans for all women across Nigeria.

According to President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Government has set up some policies to regulate and prevent the rate at which women are assaulted or brutalized. He promised that his administration would do everything possible to protect the interest of all women.

While Revealing his plans, President Muhammadu Buhari listed some organizations he has set up, to create a good standard of living for all women in the country. President Muhammadu Buhari concluded by wishing that the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence would be a successful and impactful one.
