The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Friday agreed to call off its eight-month-old strike.

The decision was reached during a meeting in Abuja by the union and the federal government delegation led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige.

Based on agreements between the two parties, the government also promised to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion.
