The powerful Jubilee official who has President Uhuru Kenyatta's ear argued it is possible to kick out the DP from his powerful position if the success of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in both Houses is anything to go by.

"The provision for impeachment is in our constitution. Even in the United States (US), the most powerful person, Donald Trump, was impeached at the Congress level twice. He survived at the Senate."
"When you go for the impeachment of someone of the stature of the deputy president, you need to be sure about your numbers. Going by the numbers that we saw during the BBI vote, we crossed the threshold. We had over 235 lawmakers, and the mark needed is 233. So it is possible to impeach the DP," Murathe told KTN News.

The former Gatanga Member of Parliament questioned Ruto's continuous absence from state functions with the latest being the visit by Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu Hassan.

"Why was he (Ruto) not on hand to receive the Tanzanian president? He was not at the functions held by Suluhu including meetings and the dinner."

Murathe who had initially claimed the DP would be evicted from the so-called hustler's mansion made an about-turn and said he was not talking about physical eviction.

"Eviction is not about the physical removal from the Karen mansion. Eviction is body language...You don't just walk into state house unless you are invited or cleared," he added.

Ruto's allies have since dared their counterparts drawn from the handshake faction to prove their might by tabling an impeachment motion targeting the second-in-command.

The Tanga Tanga politicians said this just days after the National Assembly overwhelmingly endorsed the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2020 in a vote which section of observers have described as having pulled the curtain on DP's weakening influence in the parliament.

"That was about the constitution. If they think they have the numbers, they should not waste time. Let them draft the impeachment motion and bring it to parliament and if they can raise 233 so be it. But let them not confuse what happened in parliament and the political realities on the national scene," Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua said.
