Francis Atwoli's wife, Mary Kilobi, has finally broken her silence following a rumour that her husband secretly married a 23-year-old woman identified as Jamila Mbugua. The rumour spread like wildfire over the weekend, leaving tongues wagging.
This forced Atwoli to address the rumour, and he denied marrying another woman. The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) boss and Mary flew to Watamu, Kilifi county, to celebrate his 71st birthday past weekend.
Atwoli and Mary enjoyed their stay in the coastal city. On Sunday, they went on a yacht cruise with one of his sons and Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Devolution and ASALs Eugene Wamalwa.
Mary shared a post making fun of Jamila, the lady who many claim got married to Atwoli last weekend. The KTN presenter jokingly said she would like to meet her to discuss the way forward.
"Huyu dem wa 23 years old msomali au sijui Jamila Mbugua si ametesa jameni? Watu hawalali! Mkimuona salimia yeye sana. Nitamtafuta tujadiliane (This 23-year-old lady Somalian Jamila Mbugua has really trended. People are not sleeping! If you see her say hi to her. I will look for her we discuss)," Mary wrote.
Mary's followers, among them State House spokesperson Kanze Dena reacted to her post, and below are the reactions:
"Salamu tutafikisha...swali ni pepo hufikishiwaje salamu? (We will pass your greetings but how do you talk to someone who doesn't exist?)."
"Mama niite kwa kikao cha Jamila. Mbona watu wanachekesha jamani (call me when you meet Jamila. Why are people this funny?) You look, beautiful honey."
"Mary take it to God in prayers."
Watu wanapenda mehemeheme sana (People love to gossip a lot)."
Atwoli dismissed the rumours going round, saying there is no problem marrying another woman.
He said if has to would, then he would do it publicly.
"That is a lazy rumour from some idle Kenyan. I was at the coast with my wife Mary (Kilobi Atwoli). In any case, there is no problem in marrying but if I have to do that I do it publicly not hiding from anyone," Atwoli exclusively told TUKO.co.ke.
