Upon the victim making it to the hideout, and moments before the promised blissful sessions, two men would show up purporting to be the boyfriends of the conniving women.
The victim would then be held as he is asked to part with cash guised as ransom so as to secure his freedom.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reported that the women prefer monied men of caucasian descent.
In the Thursday's incident that led to the arrest of the five, detectives constituting a special team that has been on the trail of the syndicate stormed the house where the victim was being held incommunicado.
According to the investigative agency, the women lure the smitten men to a house behind Ruaraka’s Naivas supermarket, with a promise of an action-packed night from two to three babes depending on one's preference."I would Pray Before Going to Work": Reformed Lady of the Night Says
The detectives found the stark naked, as the suspects eagerly waited for KSh 100,000 which they had demanded to be sent via mobile money before he could be set free.
He had called his relatives claiming that he had been involved in a road accident and needed the KSh 100,000 for treatment.
The special agents who had followed cyber forensic leads to the house where the victim was being held, connected the crime to an incident that occurred last month, where a man was accosted in Parklands and robbed of KSh 450,000.
The first victim identified the suspects positively, as they are the ones who milked the cash from his bank account in a similar modus operandi.
The five have been identified as Joseph Makau Mulatya, Patrick Wekesa Omosa, Rehema Njeri, Vigilance Mumbi and Hadija Ong’ai.
Identified as Samuel Mugo Muvota, the man had a whole empire consisting of real estate properties from proceeds of crime.
Working in cahoots with him were a host of women whom the state agency has christened "Basmati Babes".
On Friday, May 20, the DCI unmasked some of the alleged faces behind the dangerous ‘Pishori’ administrators believed to have been spiking drinks of moneyed Nairobi men.
According to the DCI, the "babes", who are experts in stupefying revellers at popular drinking spots mainly, used to target middle-aged to older men whom they suspect to have fat bank accounts.
Going by the brands of the drinks one has ordered to how one is dressed, one can easily pick out a Mubaba with a good bank balance, from a crowd of revellers, the DCI reported.
