Nairobi city is the largest urban centre in East and Central Africa and as such there are a lot of inhabitants who have moved to this city in search of opportunities. Some have been left in a position where they have to live from hand to mouth as the city life takes a toll on them while others have to endure hard jobs to earn a livelihood.

On the flip side, some have turned to criminal tendencies as a way of survival due to scarcity of employment chances and poor business environment that may not allow for a sustainable venture to flourish. These illegal ways of making ends meet include frauds, robberies and cons.

Nairobi is not short of such characters as vulnerable people are always targeted by the cunning schemes of criminals. A Facebook user recently revealed how he was conned by street hawkers in Nairobi by being sold unworthy goods. He explained how he bought a socket extension cable that was marked "fused" only to later find out it was not what he thought he was buying.

On reaching his home he felt something suspicious and decided to open up the plug of the extension cable and to his utter shock he discovered that the cables were dangerously connected direct to the terminals that go into the socket. Such could have seen his electrical gadgets connected to power using this extension blow up incase a power surge occurs while in use which could result in huge losses.
He later comically advised his followers that they would require to be walking around with screwdrivers so as to confirm if such items are okay and fit to buy before purchasing them to avoid disappointment.
