The Kenya Power and Lighting Company usually give daily updates whenever there is a scheduled maintenance shutdown. The Kenya Power do issue the interruption notices as per the rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules.

According to the rule 27, the Kenya Power usually carry out maintenance and upgrading activities which usually result in many hours of power outage. In addition to this, the Kenya Power do to connectivity of electricity to new customers in different areas and therefore leading to many hours of a power outage. KPLC therefore announces that the residents of the outlined areas below will face many hours of power outage:

Whenever there are scheduled power outages, the Kenya Power customers who run businesses are usually forced to look for alternative sources of power in order to ensure continuity of their daily operations. Many other customers who face the effects of power blackout include industrial plants, companies, institutions such as schools, banks, hospitals among many others.
