The Kenya Power and Lighting Company usually give Electricity Interruption Notices daily as per the rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules. This rule usually dictate that it is necessary for KPLC to interrupt the supply of electricity in different parts of the country as they carry out various important activities. As a result of this, the Kenya Power do interrupt the supply of power occasionally in different parts of the country in order to carry out maintenance and upgrading of the power supply network. KPLC also carry out connectivity of electricity to new areas as well as installing power to new customers. Apart from that, the Kenya Power replaces the electricity lines that cut across areas where roads are being constructed and therefore leading to many hours of electricity shutdown.

As a result of this, the Kenya Power customers who include institutions like schools, banks, hospitals, large scale factories, both small scale and small scale businesses such as barber shops, salons, welding, poshomills, Jua Kali operators etc all rely on the KPLC to supply electricity for their daily operations. During blackouts, these customers are forced to look for other sources of energy such as petroleum generators hence digging deeper into their pockets. Tomorrow (Tuesday 1st December 2020), the Kenya Power has scheduled a long power outage in parts of the listed counties below:
