KNEC: How To Replace A Lost Certificate

Ndings 2d

In case of misfortune where individual certificates get misplaced, lost, disfigured or even destroyed, many Kenyans always wonder in how to replace the lost or missing certificates accredited by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), like the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), amongst others.

The good news is that KNEC has devised a way into which a person can replace the missing certificate from KNEC. However, the council has indicated that they can only issue a certification letter, but not an original certificate. The council has also laid key procedures to be followed when replacing the certificates, as shown below.

The applicant seeking for the certificate replacement should apply for the certificate in writing and also produce a copy of the lost certificate, a police abstract indicating the certificate loss, a sworn affidavit on the certificate loss, a copy of the national identity card, a coloured passport photo and pay a result certification letter of Kshs. 5,220, only payable via the bank.

Applicants are always advised to pay the fee upon verification and confirmation of their particulars by the Kenya National Examinations Council, while those who do not meet the issuance of the results certification will be refunded their money.

Upon successful application, the replacement takes at least 15 days to be completed. The applicant should pick the result certification in person from the KNEC offices and MUST provide the original ID card.
