Global Firepower rated Kenya as the 12th strongest military armed nation in Africa in this latest US-based global agency finding, while below Ethiopia but ahead of its neighbors Ugandan and Tanzania.

Last year the organization measured the power of each African country in terms of military hardware and human capital. The findings revealed that Kenya has been the most strong nation in East Africa on the basis of countries employed, weapons capability, geographical position, logistical stability and the country's budget.

The rankings revealed that Kenya has held its 11th place in Africa since 2015. The country However dropped in 2020 to the 12th position just before Uganda at 13th Position. During that time, the Kenyan president had exponentially expanded the spending of his defense ministry.

President's commitment

While addressing one of the military functions last week, the president of the republic of Kenya Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta made his commitment to modernize the military hard and software before his term ends in 2022
