December marks the cessation of the October- November- December short rains in Kenya.Episodes of heavy rains are likely to be experienced in several parts of the country.

Forecast for the month of December.
The forecast indicates that several parts of the country are likely to experience below average rainfall throughout the month.The western and the southern parts of the country are likely to experience near average rainfall as shown below.

1.The Lake Victoria Basin, The Highlands West Of The Rift Valley,and Central and South Rift Valley:( Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nandi, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma and Busia Counties)
Occasional rainfall is expected throughout the month of December.The rainfall is likely to be near or below the long-term average amounts of December.The entire month is likely to be wet with occasional heavy storms which are likely to be more frequently in afternoon and night.
2.The Highlands East Of The Rift Valley and Central Kenya.( Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Muranga, Kiambu, Embu, Meru and Tharaka Counties)
Morning rains and afternoon showers are expected throughout the month of December 2020.The expected amounts are likely to be near or below the long term average for December.
3.South Eastern Lowlands ( Kajiado, Kitui, Makueni, Machakos and Taita Taveta Counties)
Occasional rainfall is expected during the first and the second week of December 2020.The expected amount of rainfall is likely to be below the long-term average for December.The beginning of the month is likely to have wet episodes.Cessation is likely to be between the second to the third week of December 2020.
4.The Coastal Strip.( Mombasa, Tana River, Kwale, Kilifi and Lamu Counties)
Occasional rainfall is likely to be in December 2020.Cessation is likely to be between the third and the fourth week of December.The expected amount of rainfall is likely to be near to below the long term average for December.
