The case against Muzikayise Malephane (31), who is accused of killing an eight-month-old pregnant woman, Tshegofatso Pule, was postponed to July 3 after he stopped efforts to find a lawyer.
Malephane of Zondi, Soweto, was arrested on his way from Mpumalanga last week and appeared briefly in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court where he was charged with the murder of Ms Pule (28).
Ms Pule's body was found hanging from a tree, with wounds and was last seen alive when she boarded a metered taxi that her boyfriend had called for two weeks Ago.
The EFF and Not In My Name were part of a group of protesters outside the court where Malephane would have been virtually appearing as he was in Krugersdorp prison.
The man dropped his bid for bail, and the matter was postponed to July 2 for him to get an independent lawyer.
However, the postponement did not bode well with the protesters.
One of Ms Pule's friends, who was in court, told the eNCA she was upset that the case was postponed because Malephane wanted an independent lawyer.
She said they were there to find out what happened to Tshegofatso. Who was the mastermind of this conspiracy and they were disappointed.
A friend added some questions that need to be asked in this case.
She says if he was paid to kill Shegofatso that means he would be paid to be the sacrificial sheep of the conspirator. The time he is given will keep him cool and the conspirators escape.
Another friend, Palesa Ndarala said she believed the justice system did not support the coup.
She said tshego is dead, the baby is dead. They were not given an opportunity to plead for their lives but the Muzi was given a series of opportunities to pay for a lawyer.
