Owing to inadequate relief package by the government, the minister of transportation Fikile Mbalula has appealed to The South Africa National Taxi Council (SANTACO) to give peace a chance. This was contained in a meeting on Monday afternoon between the industry and the Transport minister.

Minister Mbalula has also said that he will also find solution to the issue of repossession of their vehicles between the banks and some taxis during the lockdown period. Prior to this, Transport Minister Mbalula has also frowned at some taxis loading at 100% capacity despite governments warning following the corona virus pandemic. However, SANTACO objected that saying that they can't be forced to operate limited capacity in the absence of limited financial package.

The minister also said that he is optimistic that every issue in the transport sector will be resolved amicably. He has also cautioned the sector to put in place safety measures so as to limit the spread of Covid-19.
