South Africa New Covid-19 Vaccine, Now Ready for Humans

Presently, South-Africa is counting 111 796 infected people in the country, with a death toll of 2 205 people.


These numbers has earned the Southern country, the first position in the continent with regard to the Covid-19 infections.


The Race to the discovery of the much needed Vaccine for the deadly virus, which started since the seriousness shown by the virus earlier this year, continues worldwide.


Africa already came up with a proposed herbal remedy from Madagascar, which is a story for another day.

Now, the biggest news comes as South African scientists announced a very mouth watering news, keeping our breaths up in the air.


The Vaccine that was being developed in the country, precisely in Wits facilities, is now ready for Human's Trial, which will take place this week already.


This was announced on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, at a virtual press conference hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (Wits).


While the University is collaborating with the University of Oxford and the Oxford Jenner Institute on the South African trial,

Shabir Madhi, who is the Professor of Vaccinology at Wits University and Director of the South Africa Medical Research Council (SAMRC), Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Analytics Research Unit (VIDA), will be the one leading the South African Vaccine VIDA-Trial in regard of the Covid-19.


South Africans are holding Hands together as first participant to be vaccinated this week,


Following the approval of the cure from South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) and the Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of the Witwatersrand.
