Tiger Woods is an American professional golfer, and his current net worth is $750 million. Growing up in Orange County, California as a child prodigy, Woods was introduced to golf before he turned two years old, by his athletic father, Earl. Because of his work in the military, his father had privileges at the Navy golf course, and often would let Tiger play there.
Before the age of seven, after he had already broke several records for his age, Tiger has won the Under Age 10 section of the Drive, Pitch, and Putt competition. A year later he won the 9-10 boys’ event, the youngest age group available, at the Junior World Golf Championships.
At eight he first broke 80, and defeated his father, with him trying his best, when he was only 11 years old. While attending high school in Anaheim, he became the youngest-ever U.S. Junior Amateur champion. His father had researched in detail the career accomplishments of that time best golfer, Jack Nicklaus, and had set his young son the goal of breaking those records.
At 18 he graduated from Western High School, and had already won several championships and broke several other rules. Soon after, an outstanding amateur and two-year college golf career followed, which turned him into a professional golfer when he was only 20.
Through the 2000s, Woods was the dominant force in golf, spending 264 weeks from August 1999 to September 2004 and 281 weeks from June 2005 to October 2010 as World Number One. He has been amongst the most successful and highest-paid golfers of all time several times.
After his 21st birthday, famous brands were all over him to sing him off to promote their products. He then signed deals with General Motors, Titleist, General Mills, American Express, Accenture and Nike. Then in 2010, he signed a 5-year, $105 million contract extension with Nike, making it the largest endorsement package ever singed by an athlete at that time.
He has also collaborated closely with TAG Heuer to develop the world’s first professional golf watch, which was released in April 2005. In 2017 was announced that he would be signing a new club deal with TaylorMade.
He added the 2016 M2 driver along with the 2017 M1 fairway woods, with irons to be custom made at a later date. His father, a single-figure handicap amateur golfer, has been one of the earliest African-American college baseball players in Kansas State University.
