Police Minister Bheki Cele is worried about the wave of political killings in KwaZulu-Natal
View pictures in App save up to 80% data. Police Minister Bheki Cele has raised a concerned about a fresh wave of murders of political leaders in KwaZulu-Natal. Cele was speaking at the home of ANC councillor Bhekithemba Phungula at uMlazi in Durban.
Phungula was also a branch chairperson. He was shot and killed at his home in front of his wife on Tuesday night. Minister Cele said police need to act fast to bring the perpetrators to book.
"There are more than 200 people that have been arrested out of political violence in this province including lot of izinkabi. But usually izinkabi get paid may be we have not done very well with pay masters but izinkabi I guess we have done very well with the pay masters but izinkabi I guess we have done very well so as I have said that they need to act quick this team and arrest the situation" said Cele.
The minister further said that a team of prosecutors has also been assembled to help with the murder cases in KwaZulu-Natal.
"We have sharpened the team as we speak the team work with prosecutors so that the cases are prosecution directed by the time we take them to court. That is why it is important we need to act fast and be able to find the answers why and who" said Cele.
