You may dine but not wine in restaurants from Monday

Minister of Tourism Mamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane briefed the media earlier on level 3 advanced regulations for the tourism sector.

President Cyril Ramaphosa addressed the nation a week ago to announce further relaxation of lockdown regulations and opening of more economic activities. Ramaphosa said that restaurants, salons, cinemas, theatres, casinos and places offering accommodation may reopen for operation.

Kubayi- Ngubane was today getting more detail on how the new regulations would affect the businesses. Restaurants in particular, may start operating for sit-in services from Monday 29 June but under these conditions:

Guests should be screened, sanitized and wear masks (expect when eating or drinking),

Records will be kept daily of guests,

Food menus should be disposable i.e discarded after use or use of digital menus and,

Finally, no alcohol will be served for restaurant consumption.

Restaurant staff should also sanitize regularly, wear masks and be screened. Records of staff and delivery persons will also be kept.
