Former Amakhosi striker dies

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Democratic Republic of Congo striker Emeka Mamale has reportedly passed on due to an undisclosed illness. He was 42 years. KickOff.com has reported.

Mamale came to South Africa in 1996 and joined QwaQwa Stars (Now Free State Stars). He later joined Chiefs and later left for Belgium to join Lokeren.

The Congolese Football Federation confirmed Mamale's passing passing.

"... condolences to his family as well as to the one big family of Congolese football," the Federation reportedly said.

Mamale also reportedly played for amongst others DC Motema Pembe, TP Mazembe and Primero de Agosto in his career before he retired in 2011.

Amakhosi fans will not only remember Mamale for the famous amd and unique hairstyles but also for his pace and running at defenders constantly. His qualities as a striker were there for everyone to see.
