The winger said he made a terrible career move by joining Orlando Pirates and it was his biggest decision in football, he now looks set to be clubless.

Thabo Qalinge is leaving SuperSport United toward the finish of his deal as confirmed by club CEO Stan Matthews, as he never quite hit the ground running after joining the Tshwane based club in August 2019.

At that point, he had quite recently been dumped by the Buccaneers - five years in the wake of acquiring him from the now-dead club Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Qalinge conceded in one of the interviews that maybe leaving Aces for the Sea Robbers was an incorrect move after he failed to reach his his maximum heights in spite of being one of most talented players in the PSL at that point.

It was known that Kaizer Chiefs needed to sign Qalinge - truth be told, they presented an official proposal for his services yet Pirates captured him at the eleventh hour.

Qalinge likewise knew that he was going to Chiefs until he was told he's leaving Aces for Pirates after it was announced by the Ghosts in the off-season of 2014.

The truth is that at the hour of his move's announcement in 2014, Qalinge had not agreed to individual terms with Pirates - it was a club-to-club understanding which Aces had just acknowledged - and that saw them dismiss Chiefs; the club the player himself needed to play for.

Qalinge accepted his fate, and moved to Pirates and kept doing what he knew without being associated with the legislative issues of football.

In any case, he never truly broke it at Pirates as he either battled for structure or continued injuries for most of his five-year spell with the club since he was simply restricted to only 11 appearances in his first season and 14 the next season.

Furthermore, that is the point at which his profession began taking a crash, possibly due to the disappointments because of his lack of game time under different coaches at Pirates.

Not faulting either Qalinge or Pirates, but the player should've moved to a club he needed to play for which was Chiefs, odds are that he would have bloomed.

At that point, Chiefs required a player like him and didn't have too some conservatives who could create and take chances.

It was during Amakhosi's prevailing time under Stuart Baxter; a period which saw them win four trophies, including two league titles before things began falling ceaselessly for them, and this is when Qalinge would have maybe shone.

Furthermore, the Chiefs remaking stage began in Steve Komphela's second season in control - and the quality they had at the time was way below their standards.

Such a significant number of players came and left during that period and this could have been a forward leap and a possibility for Qalinge to take his football career to another level.

Qalinge seemed to have made harmony with the way that he was a benchwarmer in his third season as there was no consistency in how the technical team selected their team.

He would be in the team this week and play well, just to be dropped the next week without no clarification, and that surely delayed his progress.

At the point when he was let go by Pirates, many thought a return to his best was possible but the reality of the situation is that he would need to discover his feet once more.

Qalinge is only 28 and can still hit the heights that saw him taking the PSL by a storm. He requires a coach that will be patient with him and help him rediscover his form, at this stage he would wish to rekindle the legendary Clive Barker who mentored him to stardom at Aces.

You think Qalinge should've joined Kaizer Chiefs rather than Orlando Pirates?

And is it too late to don the gold and Black jersey?
