Accused murderer of Thoriso Themane has died
View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The Limpopo High Court has indicated that one of the nine minor accused of Thoriso Themane has died. The death certificate of the child was handed to the court, to confirm the death. However, no further details were provided around his death. He was the accused number two.
The age range of the other eight accused is between the ages of 13 to 16 years, all the eight appeared in court together with other two adult co-accused named, Alfred Mothapo, 36, and Chuene Maleka, 37. The case, which was held behind closed doors has been postponed until the 6th of July.
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) provincial spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi while speaking to News24, indicated that "The case was postponed because the representatives of the accused number 6 and 7 (who are minors) requested the for certain information from the State.
Footage of the fatal attack on Themane at Polokwane went viral on social media and led to protests in the city. Themane who attacked on 23 February 2019.
Mothapo informed the court last year that he had been with Maleka, when he received a distress call from his wife about an intruder, the "intruder", who turned out to be Themane, was later cornered at a local park, and looked disoriented and was bleeding.
Themane died of his injuries in hospital the following day.
