The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), confimed that, the then-14-year-old, was trafficked by her aunt from Mount Fletcher after her father's death. She reportedly sent her to Gudwana who was looking for a wife in Cape Town, according to Eric Ntabazalila NPA spokesperson.
Upon arrival at their house, the mother told the girl she would sleep with her son informing her it was an arranged marriage. The man reportedly beat, undressed and raped her between December 2011 and January 2012. The teenage girl managed to persuade them to allow her to register at a school in Philippi, that was where she reported her trauma and suffering at the end of January 2012, and the case was reported to the police.
He was sentenced to 55 years' imprisonment - 25 years for rape, 25 for human trafficking, three for kidnapping and two for assault, with intent to cause bodily harm. His mother was sentenced to 10 years for human trafficking and 3 years. The aunt was convicted of human trafficking and sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment.
