Iran issues Warrant of Arrest for US President Trump

Daily-Godly 06/29/2020

In what has been described as the joke of 2020, Iran has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump for his role in the killing of its Army General Qassem Soleimani, and has asked Interpol to help in the arrest of Trump and 35 others believed to have involved in the alleged crime.

President Trump administration claimed responsibility for the drone attack that killed General Soleimani and some top Iranian military officers in January 2020 near Baghdad International Airport. The US argued that Soleimani was standing in the way of stamping out terrorism in the gulf region and had to be taken out.

According to an Iranian public prosecutor, Ali Alqasimehr, Trump and over 30 other individuals are guilty of "murder and terrorism charges" for their involvement in the drone attack that killed Qassem Soleimani, says a report by the ISNA news agency.

Prosecutor Alqasimehr said that his country would not give up on its intention to prosecute President Trump even after he leaves office as the president of the United States.

Speaking further on Trump’s arrest warrant, the prosecutor revealed that “about 36 individuals have been identified in connection with the assassination of Hajj Qasem.

They supervised, acted upon, and ordered [it]," This includes political and military officials from the US as well as other countries, for whom the judiciary has issued arrest warrants and the Interpol has issued Red Notices," said Alqasimehr.

The Arab country has also sought the help of the Interpol in achieving its goal of getting the US President arrested. However, the Interpol is not likely going to be involved in the matter because it is outside of its jurisdiction.

The Interpol has said in a statement that its constitution does not permit it to get involved in matters such as "any intervention or activities of a political, military, religious or racial character".

"Therefore, if or when any such requests were to be sent to the General Secretariat," it added, "... Interpol would not consider requests of this nature."

Many have called the involvement of Interpol in arresting President Trump as an immature and unserious; lacking in the understanding of international laws and politics.

Also, US Ambassador in Iran, Brian Hook has dismissed the arrest warrant calling it a “propaganda stunt.”

Our assessment is that Interpol does not intervene and issue Red Notices that are based on a political nature," Hook said at a news conference in Saudi Arabia.

"This is a political nature. This has nothing to do with national security, international peace or promoting stability ... It is a propaganda stunt that no-one takes seriously," Hook said.

The US drone attack targeted and killed General Soleimani who was in charge of the powerful the Revolutionary Guard Corps's expeditionary Quds Force.

On the reason why the US attacked General Soleimani , President Trump claimed the Iranian General had oversaw the deaths of hundreds of American troops in the gulf region, and that he was planning on carrying out another attacks before he was killed.

General Soleimani was a pop star army general loved by millions of Iranians. His burial in January was attended by millions of his admirers who disregarded social distancing even in the face of COVID-19 pandemic in Iran.
