Watch Out For Ize-Iyamu As He Will Give Obaseki Tough Time Because Of These Reasons (OPINION)

Osasbio 06/25/2020

As Governor Godwin Obaseki emerges as the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the step down of three governorship aspirants, he will go head-to-head with Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the September 2020 gubernatorial election.

It was earlier gathered that Ogbeide Ihama and Gideon Ikhine stepped down for Godwin Obaseki yesterday, while Kenneth Imasuagbon followed suit in the early hours of on Thursday.

Following his victory as a consensus candidate of PDP in the governorship election, one will be tempted to ask some pressing questions as to whether Godwin Obaseki has all it takes to return re-elected in the September 2020 gubernatorial election.

There's no doubt that it's going to be a touch election in Edo as Pastor Ize-Iyamu of the opposition party would want to prove a point by emerging victorious in the forthcoming election.

I took a deep thought and imagined possible ways that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu can use to pose a threat to Godwin Obaseki or give him a tough time.

First and foremost, it's expedient to always know the importance of grassroots in politics and if as a politician you don't get the needed support from the grassroots, you go nowhere.

This grassroots is where Godwin Obaseki is lagging behind and Pastor Ize-Iyamu can capitalize and get the victory is desires. Elections are not won by cabals, but by those people who constitute the grassroots, to include market women, bus drivers, shop owners, traders, etc.

With the look of things, it seems that Godwin Obaseki is not as grounded as Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in grassroots politics and this could be the deciding/determining factor in the September 2020 governorship election.

Secondly, Godwin Obaseki doesn't have a strong backup, unlike 2016 when he had the full support of Adams Oshiomhole. The role of a strong supporter in your political run and career cannot be overemphasised and this is what Godwin Obaseki currently lacks at the moment.

These are my few reasons why I think Ize-Iyamu will give Godwin Obaseki a tough time in the forthcoming election.

You are quite correct, with the way Obaseki's roaming around he can't match Pastor Osagie in a well contested election

GOD wants to do justice to Pastor Ize Iyamu by giving him back his stolen mandate by Obaseki in 2016.
