The Most Dangerous Thing On Earth "Carcinogen" That Is Common In Our Houses

Universerjobs 1d

You may have never heard of this deadly substance.

It’s a deadly carcinogen, and exposure to it can lead to Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma, which is a disease where your lungs slowly fill up with fluid, eventually suffocating you. And the scary thing - this substance was once used in 3,000–4,000 everyday household products.

The human health effects from long-term unsafe asbestos exposure are well documented. Asbestos fibres are easily inhaled and carried into the lower regions of the lung where they can cause fibrotic lung disease (asbestosis) and changes in the lining of the chest cavity (pleura). These diseases can lead to reduced respiratory function and death. Long-term inhalation of asbestos fibres also increases the risk of lung cancer and mesothelioma.

Enlargement of the heart can also occur as an indirect effect from the increased resistance of blood flow through the lungs.

What is this deadly product? It is none other than Asbestos.

Legend has it that Asbestos was first found by a common man in Russia in the 1700’s. He found the mineral, and brought it to his home. His wife decided to knit him a pair of mittens out of the fibers of the Asbestos. Later, the mittens accidentally fell into the fireplace at the man’s house, but the mittens did not burn. This proved that Asbestos couldn’t burn, which made it very useful for building material.

In the 1930’s and 40’s, Asbestos was a widely used roofing material across America. It was just until 1940 that a risk for cancer from Asbestos was even considered, and by then the industry was thriving so much that it would take over 30 years to halt. The way that this deadly ore has affected millions of people across the US and the rest of the world is not easily matched by any other natural disaster, deadly bacteria, or weapon.

This is Libby, Montana, a town with over 2,500 people living in it. Because of a nearby Vermiculite mine that was contaminated with Asbestos, the air in and all around the town is full of Asbestos, leading to a huge risk of Lung Cancer or Mesothelioma. It used to be a thriving city, halted by the spread of disease because of Asbestos. And because not all Asbestos isn’t removed from old roofing, piping, and flooring, the same fate that fell upon Libby could happen in many other places.

This may not even be the most deadly or catastrophic thing on this page, but it has the most potential to threaten you and other’s lives if it is left unnoticed. If you just stay careful in this world, the bad things that may happen might not.

Asbestos is a dangerous substance and should be avoided. But people who have contact with asbestos do not always develop health problems. The risk of disease depends on many factors:

  • How much asbestos is in the air
  • How often and for how long exposure occurs
  • How much time has passed since exposure began
  • Whether the person already has lung or breathing conditions and
  • Whether the person smokes tobacco

Asbestosis is a chronic lung disease in which there is scar-like tissue formed in the lungs (pulmonary fibrosis). This fibrosis decreases the elasticity of the lungs, making breathing more difficult. Shortness of breath is the most common symptom. In most cases, a common physical sign is "crackles" - sounds that can be heard through a stethoscope. Also known as "rales", they are usually detected near the end of a full inspiration.
