Governor Makinde Asks Management of College of Medicine, Ibadan to Move Closer to Government

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has commended the College of Medicine, Ibadan for maintaining the World Class Standards of Doctors making the nation proud world over.

This commendation was made on Thursday at the commemoration of achievements of the College of Medicine located in the University College Hospital (UCH) premises, Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde who was represented by his Deputy, Engineer Rauf Olaniyan, urged the Provost and management of the College of Medicine to endeavor to move closer to the Government of Oyo state in order to gain further assistance.

Foundation Provost of the College of Medicine who doubled as the Pioneer Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UCH, Emeritus Professor Oluwole Akande, said it is about time for Government to institute Health Tax Fund as it is obtainable in the Education Sector in order to aid the

Medical Institutions as the Government alone cannot bear the burden of funding.

In his remark, the Provost, College of Medicine, Ibadan, Emiola Olapade-Olaopa, hinted that the College of Medicine's newly commissioned clinical drugs trials and toxicology Unit will be used to test-run homegrown drugs to fight Covid-19 in the state and in the country at large.
