NDA: The full daily Activities and Time Table of Cadets in the Academy

The aspiring place of almost every Nigerian teenager and youth is to be in the Nigerian Defence Academy. After writing an Examination, those that pass the exams successfully are invited for the AFSB, they are screened both physically, mentally, and psychologically. Those who pass all these tests are admitted finally into the Academy as cadets. It takes five years for an Army cadet to pass put, while for the Navy and AirForce arms, it takes four years to be fully commissioned as an officer. The complete timetable of an NDA terma one or first year cadet, cannot be fully justified in writing, since it's an everyday challenge for them. Only the cadets that can express what they go through and share their experiences. But lets try showcasing the normal timetable of a Cadet in the Nigerian Defence Academy. There are about 15 squardrons at NDA namely from A to O comprising approximately 120 cadets each. So the total strength is around 1800 cadets altogether. It may be more or less though.


Cadets start their daily routines between 04:00 am to 06:00 am. Each cadet has to get ready for morning drill. They have to brush, freshen up, shave and wear neat clothes. This activity is termed "Physical Conditioning" in the Academy.

Morning Session

06:00am - 06:30 am is a time for moving out of the Hostel for PT, also known as outdoor training session. Breakfast time is between 08:30 am - 09:00 am. They go for lectures and Academic classes between 09:00 am - 01:00 pm in the afternoon. The have six periods of different classes and subjects each day.

Afternoon Session

After returning back from lectures, they go for lunch which is at 01:30 pm. After lunch, some cadets have sum chit chats, while junior cadets go through some physical training and purnisments. Between 03:00 pm - 06:00 pm. Its time for different Activities such as sports or general training Activities.

Evening Session

Between 06:30 pm - 08:00 pm, cadets study abit and they clean themselves up. Mostly, junior cadets hardly enjoy this privileges. They are mostly cleaning the hostel and corridor during this period. 08:00 pm - 08:30 pm. The Cadet Squardron Major orders for the purnisment of every cadet, this is not a very enjoyable time for both senior and junior cadets. Between 08:30 - 08:50 pm is time for cadets to have dinner. The fastest and most unpleasant meal of the day, especially for junior cadets. 09:00 - 10:00 pm is a time for another physical drill. By 10pm, the alarm is sounded ,and its considered a total lightout.some cadets still go through other physical training by some seniors after this period.

Challenges and Disciplined Life

Don't think that the daily activities only include physical training, there are also other activities like horse riding, basketball, football, hockey, yoga, mashal arts and many others whoch are divided into indoor and outdoor clubs in which every cadet has to indulge in. The pressure is so much to show the best results as expected. The struggle continues when your seniors and instructors humiliate you on your failure. But this is only to build a strong person in you. Discipline and time management are the main factors to survive in the Academy and graduate successfully. You will also have very memorable experiences in the Academy.
