Hey there, I am a new blogger who is learning cornerstones of blogging every day. And search engine optimization is one of the big cheese of the blogging spectrum. It can be puzzling for newbies as there is no single line rule to master it. You only understand it with tweaks and turns. In a broader sense, it’s like an instrument that you can learn and become virtuoso with practice. So what is SEO and what are its types, let’s find out in this article. 

What is SEO?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of optimizing your content so that it appears on SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages).

The glaring benefit of powerful SEO is higher ranking on search engines which in turn generates lucrative visitors. To understand it further let’s look at its different subdivisions.

It can be a setback to SEO if your webpage is not discovered, scrawled, or indexed by search engines. You need to check the robot.txt file of your website to nullify the crawl errors and identify the pages which have been mistakenly blocked by Google bots.

Mobile Responsivenes

Millions of people surf the internet using a mobile device that includes smartphones and tablets. Hence it is important that your website is mobile-friendly. While the content should be the same on desktop and mobile platforms you should manage the minute errors such as intrusive popups or small texts that are harder to read to optimize your website for mobile.

The title tag to your content plays a crucial role in on-site SEO. A catchy title can draw a lot of eyeballs to your webpage. You have to make sure to place your primary keywords close to the title of the content for powerful SEO. An accurate meta description is also an important factor that can boost up the on-site SEO. It should be blended with your targeted keywords that concise with the idea of the content. Besides the title, there are several other formatting available such as subheadings or minor headings.

Pictures speak a million words. Hence, it is important to incorporate infographics in the form of images and videos in your content. This is a crucial step to keep your readers engaged and curb the bounce rate. However, multimedia must be optimized to meet the requirements of SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) with an accurate stuffing of keywords in video description and image alt text.

Relevant Backlinks

Backlinks are the cornerstone of off-page SEO. They are classified into two types do-follow links and no-follow links. 

Do follow link is meant to pop up the webpage rank on SERPs. It allows Google bots to pass link juice or link value to the webpage that is linked with. For example, if an e-commerce website with higher DA provides a do-follow backlink to another similar website with lower DA then it means that the former is giving its value to the later. And hence the rankings will improve for the website with lower DA. 

The no-follow backlink is meant to stop web spam. It has no role in ranking and Google bots do not follow or pass link juice. 

Irrelevant backlinks can hamper your website ranking and sometimes can trigger de-ranking as well. So, you should make sure to get relevant backlinks from trusted websites.

Social Networking

Social media hosts millions of users which can be converted to visitors of your websites with effective networking. This also boosts the off-page SEO which in turn can proffer better rankings on SERPs. You can share your website links on different platforms to draw a huge influx of traffic. But make sure not to overdo this process as it might surge the spam score of your website. 

Technical SEO
