1. Atiku directs support groups in Edo to work for Obaseki View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
Former Vice President and the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, has directed that his support groups in Edo State be activated to support Governor Godwin Obaseki in the state governorship election fixed for September 19.
The Deputy Director in charge of Atiku Support Group/Mobilization in the defunct Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation and PDP Presidential Campaign, Hon. Oladimeji Fabiyi, confirmed the directives of the former Vice President to newsmen in Benin City yesterday.
According to Fabiyi, Atiku directed that all Independent Atiku Support Groups in Edo State should be activated with immediate effect as part of mobilization for the victory of Godwin Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the PDP.
2. NDLEA arrests 1,023 suspects in Plateau, Ondo, others
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency , on Friday, said a total of 1 ,023 suspects had been arrested for drug- related offences in Plateau , Ondo, Cross River, Edo , Ekiti , Imo and Oyo states .
The state commands of the agency , in separate statements to commemorate the 2020 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking , said the arrests in Ondo ( 150) , Edo (145 ) , Imo (87 ) and Oyo ( 66 ) were made between January and June .
However, the arrests in Cross River (146 ) were said to have been made within the last one year, while those in Plateau (320 ) and Ekiti (109 ) occurred in the last 11 months .
3. Bandits kill 15 in fresh Zamfara, Katsina attacks
Bandits have killed 15 people in Unguwar Yabo village of Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State and Marar -Zamfarawa villlages, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State .
While 12 persons were killed in the Zamfara attack , three persons lost their lives in the Katsina attack .
An indigene of the village, Malam Sani Mohammed, said that the bandits invaded the village in motorcycles and began to shoot at the people indiscriminately.
Mohammed said the bandits spent several hours in the village, shooting and looting people’ s belongings without response from the security agents posted to the area for security reasons. Apart from the number of people killed.
4. Nigeria records 779 new COVID-19 cases, total now 24,077 View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
Nigeria has recorded 779 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 24 ,077.
