It is of no doubt that for quite some months now, universities have been on closure, following the directive of the federal government to close all schools in order to prevent the spread of covid-19 disease in the country.

The daily records of Covid-19 cases in the country have become the major cause of the delay on school resumption. Prior to this, President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier announced the ease of lockdown in his broadcast on the democracy day, declaring the reopening of religious centres and banking sectors, but has left academic institutions closed, as the federal government is working had to devise strategies that will ensure that students go to school and come back without getting infected with the virus.

However, Inasmuch as the the outbreak of covid-19 disease is the major factor hampering school resumption and despite the fact that the federal government had been deliberating on when to allow students to resume school amid covid-19, University Students should note that they may not resume when other will resume, as the ongoing strike has not been called off.

It could be recalled that prior to the closure of schools by the federal government, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had earlier decided to embark on a strike, as the federal government had failed to meet the demands of the union. Meanwhile, since then, the strike has not been called off as the federal government had not fulfilled what the union requested from the government.

In sync with this, not too long ago that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi disclosed that that the union has resolved to continue its ongoing strike to provoke the government to show more commitment to the education Sector as well as improve the welfare of workers.

This is to say that, even when others will be resuming school soon, Universities will still not be allowed to go back to school, as the ongoing strike has not been called. Unless the union must have called it off, but as it stands now, Universities has no chance of reopening while the strike is still on.

To me, I think that these people are joking with our education. What do you think about the strike issue between the federal government and ASUU?

wait ! how did FG expect the private school to operate, exempting teahers of others others classes from their livelihood,or how will a private school pay all their staff with ss3 and jss3 fees ,it's difficult to receive fees from student of this category , some among them may not even step their school until the examination day, I think the government have to revisit this area it's better never to allow resumption than coming up with this idea
