Newsoracle 06/24/2020

It was a great night at Old Trafford as host club Manchester United defeated Sheffield United 3-0. Man Utd are now unbeaten in 13 games across all competitions.

Let's take a look at few things worthy of note in today's victory:

1. Anthony Martial's hatrick: The Frenchman scored twice in the first half and again after the break to stretch United's unbeaten run to 13 games and leave them just two points behind Chelsea, who play at Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.

Anthony Martial is the first Man Utd player to score a Premier League hat-trick since Robin van Persie in April 2013. Robin Van Persie was the last player to score a Premier League hat-trick for Man Utd against Aston Villa back in 2013. I think/ hope that curse will be broken in the remaining 9 games of this season.

2. Ole Gunner super subs: Ole Gunnar Solskjær is the first manager in Premier League history to make a quintuple substitution.

On:

McTominay

Juan Mata

Daniel James

Andreas Pereira

Ighalo Jude

Off:

Paul Pogba

Bruno Fernandes

Marcus Rashford

Mason Greenwood

Anthony Martial

The Super Sub lives up to his name. With all 5 substitution made at once.

Manchester United are currently in pursuit of the Top 4 spot in order to qualify for the Champions League next season.
