OJblogg 06/29/2020

The Indian Authority has banned TikTok, the largest and most downloaded social media app having over 200 million users in India, as they embark on boycotting every Chinese product following the border row between the most populous Asian nations. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.

TikTok is reportedly one of more than 50 Chinese-made social media apps that have been shut down by the Indian Ministry of Information over some concerns that they pose a great threat to sovereignty and security of India.

As the government was issuing the ban, it was not clearly mentioned as China by name, it was rightly said the only Chinese-made apps that have been blacklisted. this incident emanates after 20 Indian soldiers die as the result of confrontation with Chinese troops over a border disputed at the Himalayan region.

China was alleged of infringing on national sovereignty by moving thousands of their troops and artillery, as well as building infrastructure, into disputed territory in Ladakh. The military face-off between the two giant nations some weeks ago was the worst conflict between India and China in 60 years, and despite pledges on both sides to de-escalate, recent satellite footage appears to show China solidifying their presence along the poorly defined border.

The Indian government disclosed that the motive behind banning the social media app which is the most downloaded social media platform, with some Indians having millions of followers, was in order to protect the data and privacy of its 1.3 billion citizens and put a stop to technology that was stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users' data in an unauthorized manner to servers outside India.

The government has already announced plans to impose higher trade barriers and raise import duties on about 300 products from China, as well as ban Chinese companies from bidding on telecom projects in India. The Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners’ Association, which represents more than 3,000 establishments in the capital, has also recently banned all Chinese nationals from their hotels and restaurants.

Since the border row began, Indian government has been rolling out measures to boycott every Chines products. We pray this does not lead to another world war, because the whole world is really sweating following the ongoing war against coronavirus pandemic.
