1. 779 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria, total confirmed cases now 24,077.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has reported 779 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, bringing the total number of active infections to 24,077.

Till date, 8625 cases have been discharged and 558 deaths have been recorded in 35 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 779 new cases are reported from 22 states, namely: Lagos (285), Rivers(68), FCT(60), Edo(60), Enugu(56), Delta(47), Ebonyi(42), Oyo(41), Kaduna(19), Ogun(18), Ondo(16), Imo(12), Sokoto(11), Borno(9), Nasarawa(8), Abia(5), Gombe(5), Kebbi(5), Kano (4), Yobe (3), Ekiti(3), Osun(2).

2. Presidency says President Buhari and Tinubu are still together.

Garba Shehu, The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, says President Muhammadu Buhari, and the All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, are still together.

The Presidency, therefore, called on analysts to stop peddling falsehood.

This was contained in a statement by Garba Shehu while reacting to the reports that have followed the dissolution of the National Working Committee by the President.

3. Two persons have died after a Petrol tanker exploded in Bauchi state.

A petrol tanker exploded at the First Bank Roundabout along the General Hospital Road within the Azare town which is located in the Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

It was gathered that, the incident occurred when the tanker, which had discharged its content at a filling station in the town, went up in flames and claimed two lives.

This is according to a source who told newsmen that, the tanker was going out of the town when an electric wire fell on it causing it to explode, a development that caused confusion in the town forcing residents to forsake sleep and scamper for safety.

4. Oshiomhole accepts the decisions of National Executive Committee.

The immediate-past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole, has accepted the decision of the party’s National Executive Committee that dissolved the National Working Committee which he chaired.

The former Edo State governor, who spoke at an ongoing media briefing in Abuja, said he is happy with what he achieved during his time in office.

The former chairman said the President, Muhammadu Buhari, invited him to reposition the APC noting that since the president in his wisdom has agreed to the dissolution of the NWC, he was duty-bound to obey him as the leader of the party.

Oshiomhole also added that, he has told his lawyers to withdraw all suits in court in obedience to the appeal of the President that all contending parties within the party withdraw their cases from the court.
