President Buhari awards 137 billion Naira for Roads and Erosion control Contracts
The President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Government, has awarded 137 billion Naira for roads, erosion control contracts.

Contracts totalling about 137 billion Naira were awarded by President Muhammadu Buhari during the Federal Executive Council meeting that was held on Wednesday.
The Federal Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, and the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this to State House correspondents after the end of the meeting.
President Buhari presided over the virtual meeting.
The contracts included that of control of erosion in some parts of Nigeria, and that of roads that are across the country.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said that the 7 projects which were worth 122.280 billion Naira, was approved during the Federal Executive Council meeting.
According to Fashola, the ministry of works and housing presented a memorandum for the award of couple of roads in the country.
Fashola said; "There are seven roads in all. The roads were valued at a total sum of 122.280billion Naira expected to generate employment for about 2,564 people.
Dualisation of Akure to Ado Ekiti road connecting Ondo and Ekiti states at the sum of 23.751billion Naira Construction of Ukana-Akpautong-Ikot Ntuen road in Akwa Ibom State, for 1.538billion Naira, construction of Iluke-Aiyetoro Kiri-Abugi-Eggan road in Kogi State for 25.352 billion Naira."
Fashola added that the rehabilitation of the Odo-Ona Elewe Idiayunre-Marou Ogun State border road in Oyo state was valued at 4.628,429billion Naira, the construction of the Tamawa-Gulu road in Kano state phase three, Maigar-Guru section was valued for 1.508,952billion Naira, then the rehabilitation of the Potiskum-Fika-Bajoga-Gombe road linking Yobe Stateand Gombe State was also valued for 59.759billion Naira, while the construction of the Kachako-Danbazzau road in Kano State would cost 6.749billion Naira.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, on his part, also said that the Federal Executive Council approved 14,907,574,845 Naira contracts for 11 ecological projects, that would go across the 6 geo- political zones in Nigeria,
Lai Mohammed said that the memo which was presented on behalf of the President, by the Secretary to the Government, was soughted the approval for the contract to be awarded, due to the emergency procurement of the 3rd and 4th quarters of the year 2019, flood control, soil erosion and acceleration intervention projects, in favour of 11 contractors in the total sum of 14.9billion Naira.
