Former Liverpool Defender, Andre Wisdom, who currently plays for English football club Derby County, was involved in a gruesome attack last weekend (Saturday), following his team's 2-1 win over Reading that day. He said he was in his home in Merseyside that Saturday night, when he got a phone call from a family member. He drove out to pick up the family member around Toxteth/Wavertree area of Liverpool. When he got out of his car, a man came and attacked him with a knife, stabbing him multiple times and also robbing him. The player was rushed to hospital and has now been declared stable. The player would be discharged this weekend, and is set to miss out in the match between his club and Preston, and would also miss out on the weekend's derby against promotion rivals Nottingham Forest.
Merseyside police are investigating and hopefully, they would be able to apprehend the individual behind this evil attack. On his Liverpool career backstory, Wisdom signed for Liverpool at the age of 14, and made 14 appearances for the reds before he was loaned to Derby, West Brom, Norwich and Red Bull Salzburg. In the year 2017, he signed permanently for Derby County and has remained in the club since then.
We wish the ex-Liverpool defender a speedy recovery and we thank God for saving his life. Violent attacks like this should never be encouraged in football.
