Sergio Aguero is a very pivotal member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, and has been racking goals for them all season. Hence his injury will come as a blow to the City boss, especially as they will have to play a number of games in a very short span of time. But Guardiola is confident that his team has enough firepower to compensate for the absence of Aguero, and names four players who can be a replacement for the City legend.

Gabriel Jesus is available for the Citizens, but it quite normal that he will be, struggling to feature in every game. And Guardiola says that he can use some ,other players in a false nine system to fill the void. He said in the pre-match press conference that he has no doubts over Gabriel Jesus, but the Brazilian alone can’t play as there will be a fatigue issue.

Guardiola said, “Raheem [Sterling] can play in this position, even Gundogan and Bernardo ,[Silva]. Not like a [proper] striker but we can use them.”

Sterling has played in that position before, but it will be tough for Ilkay Gundogan as the German is predominantly a midfielder, and sometimes plays with a defensive role. But the Spanish manager thinks that he can use these players upfront, also urging Gabriel Jesus to stamp his authority in the absence of the Argentine.

“Gabriel’s played, with Aguero,” the manager said.

“We want to keep him and we’re delighted at what he is as a player and a person in the locker room. An exceptional guy. A young player, we’re delighted. We have no doubts with or without Aguero. We have two incredible strikers,” Guardiola added.

City can also use Leroy Sane ,as a striker but it is a doubt whether ,Pep will be eager to play him given the German is eyeing a move out of the Etihad.
