Ex-Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke says his former side’s manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should be “brave” and raid Manchester City for winger Leroy Sane.
Sane will leave City this summer or next after Pep Guardiola confirmed the German has rejected a new contract.
Reports continue to link the 24-year-old with Bayern Munich, who publicised their interest last season.
Other reports claim United eye Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho as their top target, but Yorke believes Sane’s arrival could be even more effective.
“United has got a real good attacking bunch of young players,” the former striker told Stadium Astro. “Add in Sancho, I like the boy Sane at City I really do.
“We haven’t got a left-footed sort of winger. The boy [Mason] Greenwood is coming to the fore recently but I like Sane.
“I really do think this kid is probably the quickest out of all them as well and he’s really got a good attitude.
“I know he’s got some injuries but if I was brave, if I was Man Utd manager at this point in time that’s the type of person I would go for.”
Yorke added: “He’s had a couple of years in the Premier League, I’ve watched him very closely. He’s a player that I like a lot.
“The boy Sancho is obviously up there as well but if you can’t get him why not be brave and go for a player who’s played across next door and cause some stir, just stir it up a little bit. That’s what I would do.”
Sane has recently regained fitness after a serious knee injury suffered in August wrecked his season.
Indeed, his appearance against Burnley last week was his first since the Community Shield win over Liverpool.
Elsewhere, Gary Neville says United need a solid centre-back partner for Harry Maguire to go to the next level.
The Red Devils are aiming to reach Liverpool’s level, with Jurgen Klopp’s side winning the Premier League last week.
And Neville believes another top defender has to be high up on Solskjaer’s list of priorities.

Arsenal continue to be linked with reinforcements ahead of the summer transfer window.
After the club tied down David Luiz to a new deal as well as signing Pablo Mari and Cedric Soares permanently, it could be time to focus on bolstering the midfield and attack ahead of the new season.
According to reports in Spain, the north London outfit are interested in signing a La Liga ace.
And this time it's not Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and is available for £45m due to the release clause in his contract.
Nor is it Thomas Lemar, Marc Roca or Ousmane Dembele. Rather it's a somewhat unknown quantity in Enis Bardhi who can play in central midfield as well as out wide.
But who is Enis Bardhi and why have the Gunners reportedly made a bid for his services to make him Mikel Arteta's third permanent signing as head coach? football.london takes a look.
Enis Bardhi is a 24-year-old midfielder/winger who currently plays in the top tier of Spanish football with Levante.
Born in Skopje, North Macedonia, he started his career with the Shkupi youth team, before earning a move to Brondby in the summer of 2013.
That same year Bardhi was on the move again as he signed a short-term professional deal with Swedish Football Division 2 side KSF Prespa Birlik and helped them to avoid relegation with five goals in 10 appearances
After his contract with Prespa Birlik expired Bardhi joined Hungarian side Ujpest initially on trial before impressing enough to earn a three-year contract deal.
Following almost 80 league appearances for Ujpset and 19 goals, he joined Levante for a deal in the region of €1.5 million (£1.3 million) in the summer of 2017 and has established himself as a regular.
At international level, Bardhi made his senior debut for North Macedonia in 2015 and has since gone on to represent his country 26 more times, scoring five times - including two in UEFA Euro 2020 qualification.
How has he done this season?
In terms of numbers, Bardhi is having another solid season in the top flight of Spanish football. Whilst he's short of matching his nine-goal total from his debut year, he still has enough time to match or improve on that record.
He's scored four goals and weighed in with three assists in 26 La Liga appearances thus far - including one at the weekend in a 4-2 win over Real Betis.
As mentioned above, Bardhi is versatile. He can play as a central midfielder or in the role behind the striker, but has predominately been used on the left-wing this season.
According to Whoscored, Bardhi likes to dribble, shoot from distance and cut inside from the left-hand side which explains why he's often used from off the flank.
He's averaged 1.8 shots per game, made 1.1 key passes per game and completed 1.1 dribbles per game in La Liga thus far. He also has a pass completion rate of 76.3%
Furthermore, Bardhi has proven to be a target for opposition defenders as he has been fouled on average 1.4 times this season.
How much will he cost?
And according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, the Gunners have already lodged an offer for the North Macedonia international.
Details of the amount Arsenal are reported to have offered has not been disclosed as of yet, but with two years remaining on his contract - plus the option for a further two years - Levante will be in a strong negotiation position.
Valued at £10.8m on transfermarkt, Bardhi could be the type of signing that suits the club's financial plan this summer.
It's safe to say Arsenal will face strong competition for Bardhi's signature.
The aforementioned report states that Serie A side Fiorentina, as well as an unamed Bundesliga side, are also interested in signing the 24-year-old.
A bidding war is certainly an advantage for Levante as they stand to make a profit on the £1.3m they paid fro Bardhi three summers ago.
Arsenal held negotiations with 22-year-old Brazilian defender View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes has opened the door to a move to the PL this summer, amid interest from the likes of Gunners and Toffees. U23 Brazil international was having an excellent campaign in Ligue 1 before the season was cancelled over the covid-19 crisis.
The likes of Gunners, Toffees and Napoli in Serie A have all been linked with a move for Magalhaes, who is valued at nearly £30m. Arsenal manager is believed to be on the lookout for a top defender with the London giants once again having severe problems in the back-line after consecutive losses in the PL.
And while Gabriel admitted that his future is yet to be decided, he is keen on a move to Premier League or Serie A. ‘It is gratifying because there are a lot of teams talking about me,’ the 22-year-old centre-back said. Gennaro Gattuso likes me a lot? I don’t know, we haven’t talked.’
‘On the internet, on social networks, there are a lot of things coming out. I do not know what is true. I see every day, ‘Ah Gabriel goes there, then there’. But in fact, we don’t know yet where I’m going to go. Wherever I go it will be to play, to be at the top, at the highest level.’
‘And above all in a team that will allow me to go to the Selecao.’ The Gunners signed Pablo Mari from Flamengo and Cedric Soares from Southampton during the winter transfer window. Arsenal heavily linked with RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano.
Arsenal started negotiations with€25m-rated Liga NOS midfielder View pictures in App save up to 80% data.
The London giants have expressed interest in signing Danilo Pereira and view the Porto midfielder as a cheaper alternative to Thomas Partey, according to reports. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a known admirer of Ghana international and would ideally like to welcome the Atletico Madrid star to the London club this summer.
But Gunners are not in a position to meet Thomas’ €50m buy-out clause, mainly due to the covid pandemic and their likely absence from next campaign’s European competitions. Even if Gunners do miss out on a deal for Partey, Mikel will still look to strengthen his midfield options this summer, with Arsenal now tracking Portugal international.
Pereira has emerged as a crucial figure for Porto over the past five campaigns, helping the club win the Liga NOS in 2018 and climb to the top of the table this term. Gunners plan to meet his representatives in the coming weeks, once they know their European fate and have a better idea of their transfer budget for the summer.
Danilo has a release clause of nearly £54m but it is claimed Dragons are willing to offload the midfielder for nearly a third of that price in order to meet UEFA’s financial fair play requirements. The Portuguese midfielder still has two years left on his current deal but is reportedly open to a move to the PL this summer.
The 28-year-old midfielder helped Portugal win the European Championships in 2016 and the Nations League last year and his experience and quality has attracted interest from Gunners. Earlier this week, however, Mikel Arteta admitted Gunners transfer plans were still undecided.
