Between Pastor Adeboye And Pastor Sam Adeyemi: See Who Oyedepo, Pastor Kumuyi And Others Supported

Creativitys 06/25/2020

Pastor E.A Adeboye is a well respected man of God in Nigeria and currently the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He is arguably the most prominent pastor in Nigeria and probably Africa. Daddy G.O being popularly called has over billions of congregation across the world. This is no surprise as the Man of God has been working tirelessly to expand the Church. The Church currently has numerous parishes in over 197 countries with the International headquarters along Lagos - Ibadan Expressway, Ogun State.

Papa Adeboye has been a mentor and Father to many Men of God in Nigeria and even across the shore of Africa. This includes the Founder of the Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo. Some other Popular Pastors who were once under the leadership of Daddy G.O also include the founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare and also the Founder and Residing Pastor of Trinity House, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo.

Recently, there's been controversy on paying of tithes. Notable personalities has come out to air their opinion on the payment of tithes, including the City FM OAP, Daddy Freeze. However, I'm more concerned on the statement given by the Men of God because they are believed to have been studying the scripture unlike ignorant men.

Pastor E A Adeboye during one of his sermon decided to talk on payment of tithes. He said in the video that anyone who is not paying his tithe is not going to heaven and there's no further story about that. The Man of God warned believers, particularly his members, to avoid the curse that comes with displeasing God. He believes not paying tithes is displeasing to God. Papa Adeboye said anyone not paying tithes is invoking divine curse. He went further to tell his congregation to avoid Divine curse like a plague.

The Man of God didn't make his claim on baseless stand. He cited the scripture in Malachi 3:9-12 where Christians are urged to pay their tithes. Reacting to this, many claimed it was just in the Old testament while others said the Respected Pastor is only after the congregation's money and not welfare.

But in a humble manner, the cleric decided to quote a verse in the New Testament to shut critics up who says Tithes is only admonished in the Old testament. Daddy G.O referred to Matthew 23:23, which says, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices - mint, dill, and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law - justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former."

It was stated here that Tithes (tenth) should not be neglected. Other men of God have arose to support the General Overseer by showing solidarity. Bishop David Oyedepo also tunes with Papa Adeboye after saying Tithes is compulsory for financial breakthrough

Likewise, The General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian life Ministry, Pastor W. F Kumuyi has said that Tithing is still relevant today and no man can cancel it.

However, it seems Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre does not totally agree with his companions as he claims Tithes is not compulsory. He said we are free and no Christian should feel guilty for not paying tithes. This is going contrary to Pastor Adeboye's message and Pastor Kumuyi's words that no one can cancel tithing.

he said he personally conducted a comprehensive and an unbiased research into this controversial topic.

He added that God is not angry with anybody that doesn’t pay tithe since that the person is also not under any form of curse. He also supported his opinion with bible reference after citing Romans 8 saying the chapter “clearly tells us that we are free. No Christian should feel guilty for not paying tithe”.

Now the truth is both have a biblical backing to justify their teaching but which is more correct.

When a pastor uses reasoning and logic to explain the Bible,he will keep end up confusing people.... Our liberty in Christ is not a license for nonsense....
