Strong reasons why Tinubu might contest and win 2023 Presidency under PDP

Charming_Mike 06/25/2020

Former Lagos State Governor and APC chieftain, Bola Ahmed Tinubu's ambition to become Nigeria's President might be up in flames under APC after President Muhammadu Buhari turned down former Edo State Governor and embattled chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to support Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

In a rather divisive statement issued via Twitter on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Buhari, Mallam Garba Shehu, “The President has received very convincing advice on the position of the law as far as the situation in the party is concerned and has determined that the law was on the side of Victor Giadom as Acting National Chairman.

Recall that Ahmed Bola Tinubu, a two-term governor of Lagos State, had been a crony to President Buhari and the cabal, a group of power brokers at the Aso Rock Villa led by late Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, with the hope of becoming of contesting 2023 presidential election as APC candidate.

In setting up the structure that would smoothen his political journey to 2023 Presidency, Tinubu had strategically imposed his loyalist, Oshiomhole, a former labour movement leader in Nigeria, as APC Chairman hoping that he will pave the way for him to clinch the APC ticket for the 2023 presidential election.

Secondly, the alliance that birthed APC in 2014 was the understanding of a smooth changeover of power to Southwest after the completion of Buhari’s tenure. Tinubu in this regard devoted his loyalty to President Buhari so he would be able to curry the favour of the Northern parts of Nigeria for his presidential ambition.

However, Tinubu's hope of becoming the President on APC platform is looking very bleak as Buhari rejected the Tinubu-Oshiomole political structure in the APC on Wednesday.

However, one's misfortune in a particular political party might be his blessing and gain in another. The apparent withdraw of support by Buhari had led to online bashing of Tinubu for being a folly and a pawn in the hands of 'power drunk' Northern leaders.

Like Buhari who lost four times before becoming president after he moved to a new political party, the same card is out in play for Bola Tinubu. The powerful force (headed by Transport Minister, Rotimi Amaechi and Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufia) in APC standing in his way is determined to strangulate whatever political ambitions he's left with.

It might be game over for Tinubu in APC but certainly the Jagaban isn't someone who is shy from battle. He helped APC take over power from PDP and he can repeat the same feat with another party, possibly the PDP.

He's not the only powerful player left out in the cold by Buhari, two times Nigeria President, Olusegun Obasanjo had fallen out with APC and this could present a chance of two heavyweight politicians putting aside their difference to chart a new course.

Tinubu's ability of holding a parley and convincing key players with differences to reunite for a common goal might come into play. With APC becoming unpopular in the South South and Southeast, Nigeria might witness a strong coalition with a common goal of usurping power from the North.

It might be over for Tinubu in APC but it would be a start of a new challenge under a new party which Jagaban would relish. The prospect of putting APC under the sword by leading a strong Southern coalition mainly, the North would crumble and Tinubu might realize his dream of becoming the next president of Nigeria.

Who knows!!

😀😀😀😀 oga come off it,tinubu can never join PDP,he will rather aline with other small small political parties to form another forbiddable party as the case in forming APC. if he join PDP it means we don't have political party in Nigeria again. but no matter how he does it ,he can't rule come 2023 cause he has downturned the ladder he supposed to use to climb to the presidency.

in my own opinion, I think is high time we pull over from PDP and APC nonentity call political cap. Nigeria is at stake for heaven sake. the same people that has been ruling this country from last century are still the people ruling in this century. they are all brain dead. we need young vibrant men of this century to lead us for heaven sake. naija don tire me mbok

This poetic justice at its best. Those who dug the political grave for GEJ are falling into it one after the other. It's only a matter of time before all of them fall in and bury themselves.
