The National chairman of the Union Dr Nasir Idris who was represented by the first vice president of the union Kayode Akoshile, made the announcement a press briefing today at the teachers house in Ilorin.

Also suspended by the union is the state secretary comrade Jamiu Idris and the account clerk comrade Tijani Lateef.

The Deputy chairman of the Union comrade Olú Adewara has been asked to assume office with immediate effect as the acting chairman while the assistant Secretary comrade Aremu Rasheed Mayaki has been asked to assume the position of acting state secretary.

Kwara state teachers especially the SUBEB teachers that is those teachers teaching in primary and junior secondary schools have been in agony since the last beginning of this political dispensation. Their promotions were not effective, the minimum wage which approved by the federal government since the year 2012 is eighteen thousand naira (#18,000) but Kwara state government did not approved the payment fully, only the workers from level one (1) to level six (6) were fully paid the eighteen thousand minimum wages, the rest were not paid till this moment.

They are also back log of salary arrears left by the former administration in Kwara state and the present government are looking for way out of the mess but no money to settle the bill.

Surprisingly, the chairman of the union is one of those sabotaging the efforts of the teachers and the union by colliding with the corrupt government official to siphon the teachers salary. What a pity!
