View pictures in App save up to 80% data. The Ekiti State Police Command said it had arrested three people over the suspected murder of a woman aged 74.
The defendants – 25-year-old Alex Peter; 25-year-old Adeniyi Tosin; and 23-year-old Adelola Adedapo – were arraigned at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate's court on Monday and face a two-count conspiracy charge of murder and murder.
The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court on May 29 in Ikere-Ekiti that the defendants had committed the crime.
Leramo alleged the defendants conspired among themselves and murdered Arannilewa Abiodun, a 74-year-old woman, and subsequently disposed of her body in a canal near her home.
Teramo said the offenses contravened Sections 324 and 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He encouraged the court to remand the defendants in the Correctional Center, pending receipt of lawful guidance from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
However, the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abdulhamid Lawal, in his ruling ordered that the defendants be remanded at the Correctional Centre pending issuance of legal advice.
Lawal who did not take the pleas of the defendants also adjourned the case till July 22 for mention, NAN reports.
