Ogun State: Man Prevented From Killing Himself

A 36-year old man by the name of Fatai Balogun has attempted to take his own life. He reportedly jumped into the popular Ogun River in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Daily Post reports that this incident occurred around 1:15pm today, the 24th day of June, 2020.

Our correspondent gathered that Oyedele was rescued by the men of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Corps.

The Spokesman of Ogun TRACE Corps, Babatunde Aknbiyi confirmed this incident to Daily Post.

The man who attempted to kill himself was holding a bottle believed to be an insectide. Oyedele is said to be a resident of Tourist Estate, Obere Atan-Ota in Ogun State.

It is not clear how he travelled all the way to Abeokuta for the aborted suicide attempt.

Fatai Oyedele is said to be a married man with five children.

The spokesman of the Ogun State TRACE Corps reports that Oyedele was pulled out of the Ogun River and taken to Adigbe Police Station for further investigation.

Some NIgerians have blamed the government for this incident. While many others have been left wondering what could have driven such a man to attempting suicide?
