Nigeria lawmakers earn more money than British MPs: See what they earn.

Nigeria is a country with many debts ,so one wonder how the lawmakers receive huge amount of money as salaries and allowances.

In 2015, Quartz Africa wrote that Nigerian lawmakers are "among the world's top" and substantiated its claim with data from The Economist. The Nigeria lawmakers make around $150,000 to $190,000 per annum compared to $105,000 that the British MPs make per year.

In 2018, a report came in saying the senators make up to 14.25millon per month as salaries and allowances. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.


Here is the breakdown of how much our lawmakers make 

SENATE PRESIDENT

According to the RMAFC(Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission) which is the official website of public service reforms. The senate president make 8.69million naira every year and N724,570 every month as salary

DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT

The deputy Senate president annual take-home pay is 8,082,083:65 (N8.0m) while the monthly pay is N673,507:00.

SENATE MEMBERS

The annual salary, including allowances, for other members of the Senate, according to RMAFC, is 12,766,320:00 (12.7m). On a monthly basis, a Nigerian senator collects salary and allowances amounting to 1,063,860:00 (N1.06m).

SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The head of Nigeria's lower legislative chamber, the speaker, receives 4,954,220:00 (N4.95m) annually and N412,851:66 monthly, excluding allowances.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEMBERS

Members of the lower legislative chamber, according to RMAFC, receive 9,529,038:06 (N9.5m) as annual pay and N794,086:83 every month.
