Odds Are In The Favour Of Obaseki To Win Edo State Governorship Seat

The fourth coming Edo State Gubernatorial election has been met with loads of controversies. The controversies gained peoples interest when Obaseki the sitting governor of the state was disqualified by All Progressive Congress (APC) from running for the second term in office because they were not satisfied with the credentials he presented. His disqualification led to him defecting to the Opposition party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) so he can be able to run for a second term in office.

The PDP aspirants made a great decision by refusing to stand in the way of a man that would bring victory to the party. Currently, Obaseki would be elected unopposed as PDP flag bearer since Imasuagbon stepped down earlier today.

In my humble opinion, he doesn't stand a chance of winning when the time for the main elections comes. Remember in 2016, Obaseki, while he was in APC, defeated Pastor Ize Iyamu who was a member of PDP to become the governor of Edo state. I see this same scenario repeating itself this year when it's time.

APC members have shown themselves to only be interested in power tussle rather than actually working for the betterment of the people of Edo state. With all the crisis going on, odds are falling in favour of the current governor of the state.

Nevertheless, the work governor Godwin Obaseki has done in Edo state in 4 years will speak for him when it's time to elect a new governor in the state. The odds are in his favour more than it is for Ize Iyamu. Since his works have been seen in the state by many, they would rather vote for him to do more than not for someone they don't know if he would perform well. Edo people will also want to give Obaseki a chance to complete his remaining 4 years as it's mostly done in Nigeria (4+4=8).
