Former Oyo State Governor and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress, Senator Abiola Ajimobi is dead. He passed away today at the age of 70. Ajimobi died at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi Lagos as a result of the complications of Coronavirus. He slipped in coma last week and couldn't make it after a serious battle to save his life. It was reported that the former Governor had lung surgery after which his kidneys failed.

There are also reports that doctors treating him told his family that all efforts to medically save him have proved abortive, and it is only a miracle can bring him back to life. Senator Abiola Ajimobi is one of politicians in Nigeria who have died as a result of Coronavirus.

Fomer Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari also died of the virus in April. Recently a Senator who represented Lagos in the Senate also died of Coronavirus. Senator Abiola Ajimobi is married to Florence Ajimobi with children and grandchildren.

Abiola Ajimobi made name for himself in Nigeria's politics. In 2003, he became the Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria where he was as a Principal Officer of the Red Chamber(Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate). Abiola Ajimobi ran for the Governor of Oyo State under the then All Nigeria People's Party ANPP but lost the election. He contested again under the then Action Congress of Nigeria and won.

In 2015, he was reelected as the Governor of Oyo State under the All Progressive Congress an achievement that made him the first person to occupy the seat of Oyo Governor twice in a succession. The late APC chieftain studied Business Administration and Finance at the State University of New York. He acquired his Masters Degree in Operation Research and Finance at the University of Park, Illinois United States.

Until his death, Senator Abiola Ajimobi was the Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress South. Alot of Nigerians prayed and hoped that Senator Abiola Ajimobi would have made it when his family broke the news of his speedy recovery. May his soul rest in peace.

If he had known he would be killed by a disease he wouldn't have opportunity to travel abroad for treatment, I am sure he would have done everything possible to build a world class clinic in his state where he governed for 8years and the people weren't happy for his poor performance.... A great lesson for those who are still in power at different levels...The looted money will not save you guys...This is how death will majestically enter your houses and take you guys while the money will not deliver you....I don talk my own oooo....Make I dey waka go jare🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️🚶‍♂️
