He was formerly the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria. He left the oil sector in 2002 after 26 years, and was elected in 2003 as a Senator of the Republic of Nigeria representing Oyo South Senatorial District with the Alliace Of Democracy (AD) Party. After one term in the senate, he contested in 2007 for the governorship of Oyo state under the party, All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) which he lost. He recontested again in the April 2011 elections under the Action Congress Of Nigeria (ACN) and was elected Governor of Oyo State in a closely contested vote. He was reported dead according to Sahara reporters and he was said to have been on life support machine since Friday at first Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos State after getting into coma due to complications regarding coronavirus. He was born in the 16th of December 1949 and he died on the 25th of June 2020. He died aged 70 years.
We don’t know yet the actual reason of his death but it will be known to everyone once it is known.
