Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has penned a new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge - despite not appearing for the club since the 2013/14 season.

The 27 year old who joined the blues from Dutch side, Vitesse was set to become a free agent by the end of the season but the Blues have now extended his deal for an extra year.

Marco van Ginkel has just two appearances in the Premier League, but he hasn't played for the West Londoners since after featuring just four times since his opening campaign in England.

The 27 year old has won several titles since his 3 year loan spells in different clubs such as AC Milan, Stoke City, and PSV.

During his last year in Holland, he netted 16 goals in 33 games, with the hope that he will make it in Lampard’s team for next season.

However, his dreams were ruined after he required surgery on his knee in July 2018, which has kept him on the sidelines since then.

Marco van Ginkel currently takes home £28,000 weekly which means he has pocketed over £10 million at Chelsea with playing just four games for the Blues.
