Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have recovered six rifles from an uncompleted building on church premises in Asaba.
The resident pastor of the church, Fidelix Nwansa, was also arrested.
Nwansa, who is in charge of the Christ Holy Church, was nabbed for alleged gunrunning on the pretext of providing security for churches and hotels in the area alongside vigilante groups.
Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, told journalists on Thursday that the pastor’s arrest was made by his men two days earlier during a mop-up operation.
2. Former Oyo Governor, Ajimobi's burial postponed.
The funeral of former Oyo Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, has been postponed.
His spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, told reporters in his Oluyole, Ibadan residence on Friday morning the family would soon make an announcement of the burial programme.
Tunji said: “The funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family but it will be observed privately so as to be in accordance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.”
He appealed to sympathisers, who have been thronging his residence, to continue following NCDC guidelines by washing their hands, using face masks and keeping social distancing, among others.
Ajimobi died in a private hospital in Lagos on Thurs day at 70.
3. Nnamdi Kanu only attacked fake Pastors, not Christianity - IPOB says.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has said that it's Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu never condemned Christianity but only attacked those they called fake pastors and men of God in Nigeria, who refused to boldly speak up against the incessant and state sponsored killings and of Christians in Nigeria.
According to the IPOB, it said; "Kanu’s condemnation was for religious leaders who deliberately kept quiet while Christians are killed in Nigeria, saying that does not amount to condemnation of Christianity, disrespect to Islam or any other religious body.
He only condemned the evil of extermination of a particular religious group through state sponsored terrorism.
Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in his life, never condemned Christianity because he was raised in a Christian home by Christian parents and will never do such. He has respect for Christianity, Islam and other faith based religions around the world."
4. APC crisis: Dino Melaye mocks Oshiomhole, calls him 'disgraced' former chairman.
Dino Melaye, ex-Kogi West Senator, has reacted to the outcome of the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Executive Council, NEC, meeting.
Melaye mocked the suspended APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole over the outcome of the NEC meeting which saw the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.
Recall that immediate past APC’s National Secretary, Victor Giadom had convened the NEC meeting, despite agitation from Oshiomhole’s faction of the party.
Giadom had convened the meeting due to the leadership crisis rocking the APC.
He had explained that the leadership crisis in APC would be resolved at the NEC meeting.
At the meeting attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Leaders of the National Assembly, NEC had dissolved APC’s NWC.
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni was appointed as Caretaker Committee Chairman.
Reacting, Melaye in a post on his Facebook wrote: “Why did Buhari, APC take Oshiomole to Golgotha?
