FIFA announces host for Women world cup 2023

Following the vote taken by FIFA council during a meeting held by video conference, the 2023 FIFA WOMEN WORLD CUP will be hosted by Australia and new Zealand.

The announcement was made this evening by FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

The joint bid by Australia Football Federation and New Zealand Football body received a total of 22 valid votes at of 35 cast by FIFA council member in the first ballot, leaving the Colombia football association with 13.

Following on from the astounding success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™ in France and the subsequent unanimous decision by the FIFA Council, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will be the first edition to feature 32 teams and it will also be the first to be hosted by Australia and New Zealand and across two confederations (AFC and OFC).
