Latest Arsenal transfer rumours as Gunners close in on Thomas Partey deal

Arsenal have eased some concerns that were raised following their return to action by winning back-to-back matches over the course of the past week.

Victory in the Premier League against Southampton and an FA Cup triumph against Sheffield United has provided a boost to Mikel Arteta's side ahead of the hosting of Brighton on Wednesday.

There is no doubting that there is work to do this summer though, with Arteta looking to improve his options at Arsenal by utilising the transfer market.

Rumours suggest that is exactly what he is looking to do and we have gathered some of the latest snippets below.

Arsenal are close to securing a deal to bring Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey to the Emirates Stadium, according to Spanish outlet La Razon.

The Gunners have made the Ghana international their top priority ahead of the transfer window and a path has been cleared for them to bring him to the club.

His release clause of £47million will have to be met for Atletico to agree to a departure but the report suggests that will not be a problem.

Arsenal's budget for the window is not yet known but the figure will have been affected by the economical impact from the coronavirus crisis.

The aforementioned report from Spanish outlet La Razon does not just share an update on Partey, as it's also suggested Arsenal have their eyes on three more La Liga targets.

Levante midfielder Enis Bardhi, said to cost around £18million, is one name linked with a move but the Gunners could face a battle for the 24-year-old.

Marc Roca is also on Arteta's radar and could be snapped up for well below his £36.4million valuation if Espanyol's probable relegation is confirmed.

Finally, Valencia's Carlos Soler is also being linked despite his mammoth £136m release clause as the Spanish outfit need to balance the books.

While most of the attention will orientate around incoming deals, exits from Arsenal are also expected and The Athletic states Folarin Balogun will be one of the first to leave.

The highly-rated forward has excelled for the club's youth ranks, including in the U23 side this season, but first-team opportunities have proven difficult to come by.

As well as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, Balogun is also behind Eddie Nketiah, Gabriel Martinelli and Tyreece John-Jules in the pecking order.

As a result, Balogun is keen on seeking senior opportunities elsewhere and Arsenal will sell this summer to avoid a free transfer next year.

Arsenal WON’T sign Dani Ceballos on permanent transfer once his loan ends after Real Madrid midfielder failed to impress

ARSENAL will not attempt to buy Dani Ceballos when his loan deal with Real Madrid expires.

Spanish international Ceballos was the Gunners’ FA Cup hero with the extra-time winner during Sunday’s quarter-final victory at Sheffield United.

It was only last week that Arsenal agreed a deal with Madrid to extend his stay at the Emirates to the end of the season.

But the 23-year-old midfielder has not done enough to convince manager Mikel Arteta to sign him on a permanent basis in spite of Sunday’s heroics.

And now his future is up in the air as he is unwilling to return to Madrid where he does not figure in Zinedine Zidane’s plans.

"Arsenal paid a £3.5million loan fee to sign Ceballos for the season and agreed to pay his full £55,000-a-week wages."

But there was no option for a permanent deal and no transfer fee was ever discussed between the two clubs.

Unai Emery saw Ceballos as a potential box-to-box replacement for Aaron Ramsey and the player made an instant impression on Arsenal fans with a brilliant full debut against Burnley in August.

But he was unable to sustain that level of performance before a hamstring strain sustained in the Europa League against Vitoria Guimaraes ruled him out for two months.

By the time he was ready to return to action, Emery had been replaced by Arteta and he struggled to make an impression on the new manager.

And though he has returned to the starting line-up in recent weeks, his performances have not justified paying the £30million fee which Real Madrid are expected to demand.

And with money so tight as Arsenal face up to a fourth year out of the Champions League, Arteta has opted to give more opportunities to youngsters such as Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles rather than splash out on Ceballos.

Ceballos, who cost Real Madrid £15million when they signed him from Real Betis in 2017, admitted: “Next year I want to play and I will hardly be able to do that at Real Madrid.

“I am not closing the door on any club and I do not rule out continuing with a team in the Premier League.”

Manager says £20m Arsenal and Leicester target will be sold

Nicolas Tagliafico has an agreement to leave Ajax this summer, head coach Erik Ten Hag has told Het Parool after the Argentina international was linked to both Arsenal and Leicester City.

If Sead Kolasinac is playing for his future at the Emirates, it’s fair to say he did his chances of another year in north London no good at all during Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Sheffield United.

The accusatory glances from his baffled team-mates spoke volumes, after the Bosnia international’s howler gifted David McGoldrick a late equaliser at Bramall Lane.

Fortunately, Dani Ceballos came to Kolasinac’s rescue with a last-gasp winner which puts Arsenal into the semi-finals.

But with the £20 million-rated Tagliafico keen on a move to the Emirates this summer, according to The Sun, the former Schalke defender could pay the price for a mistake which very nearly consigned Arsenal to another trophyless season. View pictures in App save up to 80% data.

At the peak of his powers, 27-year-old Tagliafico would jump at the chance to join a Premier League club this summer.

Leicester have identified the 2019 Eredivisie champion as a potential replacement for Ben Chilwell at the King Power (Le10 Sport).

And Ten Hag has handed both clubs a timely boost as the summer window creaks open.

“Agreements have been made with Andre Onana, Donny van de Beek and Nicolás Tagliafico,” says Ten Hag, who suggests that Ajax might have to accept a slightly lower fee for their star players.

“For Onana and Van de Beek, another year at Ajax could certainly be an option. For Tagliafico, it is slightly different because of his age.

“The market value of players will be slightly reduced, but not much. Based on their performance and ambition, a number of our players also want to make the move abroad.”

Tagliafico is three and four years older than Onana and Van de Beek respectively, which perhaps explains why he is apparently desperate to make the leap to one of Europe’s biggest leagues this year.

With all due respect to the Eredivisie, it would be a shame if his peak years are spent taking on the likes of ADO Den Haag and PEC Zwolle.

Arsenal looks set to miss out to AC Milan in the race to sign RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai as a recent report claims that the Italians are speeding up their efforts to land the Hungarian star.

Szoboszlai has emerged as a midfield target for Arsenal in recent weeks (The Express) and the Gunners are facing serious competition from the likes of PSG and Milan for his signature.

The Italians seem to be in the lead for 19-year-old’s signature as their next manager offers them an advantage over Arsenal.

Sport Mediaset claims that Ralf Rangnick is set to become the next manager of AC Milan and because of his history with the Red Bull organisation which owns RB Salzburg, he is set to beat Arsenal to the player’s signature.

He has reportedly told Milan that he would love to have the midfielder in his team for next season as he plots to make Milan a great side again.

The midfielder is valued at 25 million euros at the moment, however, Milan hopes that they can land him for 20 million euros.

Arsenal will look to add a few players to their team and the exciting talents of Szoboszlai is one that Arsenal fans will enjoy watching, but Milan looks to have stolen him from their grasp.
